The MSA 220.1 TC-O is STIHL’s most powerful cordless top-handle chainsaw and the ideal choice for removing pieces of trunk, crown correction, or removing dead wood. An upgraded version of the MSA 220 T & TC-O, this chainsaw has exceptional cutting performance - the highest of all STIHL top-handle chainsaws - and other features including more torque, a lighter weight and Power Boost technology. 

The MSA 220.1 TC-O has 10% more torque compared to the previous model. It can also be used with the AP 200 S, which provides a lighter weight - improving the user experience whilst working. Power Boost technology allows the chainsaw to draw from the battery's peak electrical output (1.8 kW) whilst offering a standard output of 1.25 kW. 

The chainsaw has an oil sensor on an LED display which gives the user a warning when the chain oil level is low. It also has an electronic trigger system with an unlock button for simple saw activation, which leads to easy operation and the LED display on the top handle also shows information on the operating status of the chainsaw, as well as the chain brake position. It is compact and perfectly balanced in its design – when used with the AP 300 S battery, it counterbalances the guide bar for effortless control and reduced wrist strain.

With an easy-to-clean air filter for long service life and optimum engine cooling, excellent cutting performance, side-mounted chain tensioning, tool-free oil tank cap, captive nut on the sprocket cover. Fitted as standard with the 1.3mm 3/8” P PS3 saw chain and Light P04 guide bar for increased performance.

Like most AP System tools, the MSA 220.1 TC-O is IPX4 rated meaning it can be used in all types of weather conditions. With a fully charged AP 300 S battery, the MSA 220.1 TC-O has a working time of up to 24 minutes. The AP 300 S battery provides the best balance to weight ratio for the MSA 220.1 TC-O. For a longer working time of 34 minutes, you can use the AP 500 S battery - although this will affect the balance.

Power Boost

MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE INCREASE. Thanks to intelligent electronics, STIHL power tools and batteries communicate with each other. If the device and battery are equipped with the POWER BOOST function, the battery always provides the maximum possible power for the respective application. In order to ensure optimum battery life, the device temporarily adjusts the power if it is used too intensively.

Constant Power

CONSTANT POWER, REGARDLESS OF BATTERY CHARGE STATUS. With other brands of battery tools, the performance usually decreases during work as the battery discharges. This is not the case with STIHL cordless power tools with CONSTANT POWER. Thanks to the intelligent electronics, your STIHL power tool works with consistently high power.

Side-Mounted Chain Tensioning

FOR SIMPLE AND SECURE RE-TENSIONING. Side-mounted chain tensioning allows for protected, easy and quick chain tensioning and replacement. The tensioning screw is inserted laterally through the sprocket cover.

Oil Sensor

FOR CONTROL AND MONITORING OF THE OIL SUPPLY. The LED display on the oil sensor shows you your oil levels. If the LED is red, there is not enough chain oil reaching the chain. When the oil supply is correct, the LED does not display.

Variable-Displacement Oil Pump

OIL CONSUMPTION BASED ON NEED. The controlled-delivery oil pump reduces your chainsaw’s oil consumption by up to 50%. To use it, simply select the E position. For very long cutting attachments or very dry wood, an additional oil volume can be set by the user.

Fleece Filter

FOR EFFECTIVE PROTECTION OF POWER ELECTRONICS AND ENGINE PARTS. The non-woven air filter filters sawdust, fine dust and dirt from the cooling air flow. This keeps the heat sinks of the power electronics and the engine parts clean in the long term. The removed non-woven air filter can be easily and effectively cleaned with STIHL Varioclean and then reused. Cleaning should be carried out regularly – monthly in the event of heavy use.

Tool-Free Oil Tank

QUICK AND EASY TO USE. Thanks to the bayonet closure, you can open and close the tool-free fuel cap in just a few simple steps.

Captive Nuts

PROTECTION AGAINST LOSS The nuts are attached to the sprocket cover in a captive manner. This makes it impossible for the nuts to fall off and get lost when the cover is removed.

Fold-Out Hook

SECURE HANDLING. Thanks to the fold-out hook, you can attach the tool to a suspension rope, then pull it up into the treetop or lower it down from there. You can also use it to secure the power tool. When folded away, the hook does not interfere with work or storage.

Removable Battery for Easy Cleaning

FOR EASY CLEANING. When cleaning your cordless power tool, you can simply remove the battery slot in just a few simple steps.

Performance Electronics with Derating Function

EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE MONITORING. The derating function offers you two advantages in your work: first, this function protects your chainsaw against possible overheating by reducing the current. Additionally, it notifies you by means of a reduction in power if you only have very little battery power remaining. In both cases, the function allows you to finish cuts that have already started without the engine switching off.

Two-Handed Operation
